Welcome
to The Holy Corner! This is a monthly newsletter put together by the 8th
Grade Confirmation Class. Class members are: Haley Brenneman,
Hannah Brenneman, Brayton Flynn, Brandon Sieren, Casey
Sieren, Shawna Sieren, Maggie Van Roekel, Rachel White, &
Garrett Wright. Classroom Updates Pre-School - The preschool has been
talking about saints, and All Saints Day. They have talked
about Thanksgiving and Advent and have watched the Veggie
Tales movie Madam Blueberry. Kindergarten - Kindergarten has also
been learning about different saints. They have talked about
Saint Francis. They also learned that Saint Isidor is the
Patron Saint of Farming and have talked about how farmers are
important. 1st Grade - They
have learned about the Bible, the Word of God, and Saint Martin
of Tours. They toured the Church and talked about things within
the church. They are now working on the Our Father and had
their babies baptized on November 11. 2nd Grade - The
Ten Commandments are what the second grade has been talking
about. They also added the following eight words to their bulletin
board: pure, honest, name, pray, Lord's Day, kind, truthful,
and obey. In November they will be learning about peace and forgiveness, 3rd Grade - The
class is learning about their First Reconciliation and is
learning new prayers. They are also talking about what
Thanksgiving means to them. 4th
Grade - The class is learning the Ten Commandments.
They have talked about sin and are working
on their prayers. They continue to
prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. 5th Grade - The
students have been discussing the seven sacraments of the
church. They are beginning to learn about the Eucharist. 6th Grade - The class continues to learn the main
prayers of the church. They have also been learning about saints. The class is becoming
more familiar with the Old Testament, including Abraham and Sarah and
birthright. They will be starting to work on
the Christmas program. 7th Grade - The
class has been working on vocabulary words and the History of
Jesus' People. They have discussed the Holy Days of Obligation
and the Advent Wreath. 8th
Grade - The
class has reviewed the Ten Commandments, has their first
vocabulary quiz and have also discussed the Pentateuch.
They are beginning discussion on the Beatitudes. 9th Grade - The
class has talked about sponsors, confirmation names, and positive influences.
They also continue to work from the book. Music - In music class, the children are singing for
the church and are practicing songs for Christmas. Some of the
songs they are working on are All I Want for Christmas is Jesus, You are
my All in All, and Come Now It's Time to Worship. Teacher Spotlight Mrs.
Ethel Sieren is married to Tim Sieren and they live on a farm
east of Keota. Ethel has two daughters, Nicole & Sara
and two grandchildren, Kolton and Connor. Tim and Ethel
will celebrate their 20th
anniversary this year. She has been teaching Religious Education for ten years. She currently teaches first grade. She likes teaching religion because she enjoys teaching the children about the Catholic faith and that Jesus loves them. Her hobbies include her Princess Diana collection, her Precious Moments collection, attending her daughter's different school activities and her grandchildren. She also works in activities at the Halcyon House. She states she could not have taught without the help of her aide, Mrs. Janie Hahn. Janie is married to Matt Hahn and they have five children. Janie has been helping teach for four years. Her hobbies include helping on the farm, attending her kids' activities, cooking, and camping. What's Up? Nov. 4 - Daylight Savings Time

Daddy, brother, sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all his aunts and uncles. Then he began to thank God for the food. He gave thanks for the turkey, fruit salad, and all the pies.
